Conventional camping is the backbone of how we welcome guests at Camp Wight! We love people bringing their own tents, hammocks, campervans and caravans to camp in our beautiful Isle of Wight woodlands. Many of our large pitches are screened from your neighbours, for a peaceful, private camping experience.

In fact, whether you bring a lightweight hammock rig between our woodland trees, or a large coachbuilt RV: we have enough space for all types of camper to camp in our native deciduous woodland.

In keeping with our natural setting, we decided not to provide electric hook-ups. Instead you have USB charging for devices. Without mains lights you can see the most beautiful dark starry skies at night.

Campfires, in firepits, are welcome at Camp Wight. Your campfire in a firepit keeps it safely off the ground. We allow campfires in all but the most extreme drought conditions. Rent your firepit when you book. Firepits are recycled washing machine drums, with a heavy steel wheel base, consequently, they stray stable and upright at all times.

Our site is large and low-density, resulting in your best possible Isle of Wight camping experience. The woodland nature of the campsite results in trees and shrubs screening many of our large pitches from your neighbours, ensuring a peaceful, private camping experience. You may think you’re the only people woodland camping on the campsite!

We decided not to provide chemical toilet disposal points, when we created our campsite. In line with our low-impact ethos, we encourage you to use our composting toilets, located around the site, ultimately we recycle the waste, as fertiliser, on nearby fields, where the crops are grown for a bio-digester.

Our composting toilets and straw bale urinal. Both sheds have solar-powered lighting and this is where we provide device charging, too.
